Police investigating suspicious weekend death in downtown Edmonton

Edmonton police say an investigation is underway after a 37-year-old woman died over the weekend.
EPS says patrol officers were conducting an investigation near 100 Avenue and 111 Street around 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they were informed that a woman was being taken to hospital with suspicious injuries.
Not long after arriving at the hospital, the woman died from her injuries.
At the time, a 39-year-old man who was known to the woman was taken into custody, noting no charges have been laid at this time.
An autopsy was completed on Tuesday; however, police say results are pending further investigation.
