19-year-old man arrested in stabbing case in southeast Edmonton

A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with a stabbing case in southeast Edmonton last month.

Edmonton police (EPS) say they arrested John Cabeza Cuero for allegedly attacking a 24-year-old woman near Knottwood Road and Mill Woods Road on May 11.

According to the police, “a 24-year-old woman was walking home at around 10:48 p.m. when she was approached by an unknown male suspect who stabbed her in an unprovoked attack before fleeing on foot.”

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Cuervo is facing charges of  aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault with a weapon.

He is expected to appear in court Wednesday.
