Edmonton man arrested for second degree murder in death of Ashley Burke

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Homicide Section has charged a 31-year-old Edmonton man in connection with the death of Ashley Burke, a 43-year-old woman whose body was discovered near the North Saskatchewan River last week.

On December 30, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a deceased woman found along the riverbank east of the Quesnell Bridge near Whitemud Park.

Following an autopsy conducted on January 2, 2025, the cause of death was determined to be homicide.

Specific details of the cause of death remain withheld for investigative reasons.

On Friday, Daniel Boothman, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in relation to Burke’s death.

Police have confirmed that Burke and Boothman were known to each other, and the incident is being investigated as an intimate partner homicide.
