Police aware of TikTok video threatening schools in northwest Alberta town

Police in Peace River, Alta., are investigating threats made to schools in a social media video, and so far, they say there is “no indication of an imminent threat to a specific location.”

Peace River RCMP say they were notified on Wednesday night of a two-day-old re-posted TikTok video related to threats to schools. A caption indicated “Peace River was next.”

Authorities have yet to determine the owner of the account.

Mounties say they have been in contact with the various schools and are reviewing lockdown procedures and ensuring the safety of students and staff.

Police say they are also monitoring social media and patrolling the areas around the schools.

“Peace River RCMP understands the stress related to these kinds of threats and school attendance is the prerogative of the parents and they should do what makes them feel safest,” RCMP said in a news release.
