Airdrie RCMP investigating shooting, multi-vehicle crash

Four people were taken to the hospital after shots were fired following a multi-vehicle crash in Airdrie onFriday morning.
Airdrie RCMP say the crash happened on Bayside Boulevard between 8 Street and Canal’s Link in the early morning hours.
Police believe a vehicle was in an altercation with several other vehicles leading up to the incident. Shots were then fired towards that vehicle.
Four people were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A resident tells CityNews she woken up by the sounds of gunshots outside her home.
“I went to the back, and that’s when I saw the car pull in front of the van and kind of went back-and-forth a little bit, then someone got out,” she said. “They told them that they had to run, which they did, and then the car came around the meridian, hit the guy that was running, came back around, picked up the guy that he dropped off, and then they took off.”
Cpl. Matthew Howell says it’s unclear how many suspects were involved, and no arrests have been made at this time.
The incident is believed to be targeted, and RCMP say their is no danger to the general public at this time.
Residents are asked to avoid the area while police conduct the investigation.
