Man charged for allegedly breaking into Leduc residence, assault owner

Alberta RCMP says a 24-year-old man from Camrose has been charged after allegedly breaking into a residence in Leduc on Wednesday.
Mounties say around 7:27 a.m. on Jan. 14, they responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a residence along 48A Street near Black Gold Drive.
Officers arrived at the residence in under three minutes from the time they were dispatched, and they were able to find the homeowner, who had reportedly been involved in a physical confrontation.
Reports also indicate that during the confrontation, the homeowner was hit with an ice scraper.
RCMP were able to find a man believed to be involved in the area and took him into custody.
“Very quick response from our officers and timely, accurate information from our witnesses was crucial in the quick arrest of this suspect,” says Inspector Kiel Samotej.
A further investigation uncovered that the man had allegedly broken into three more residences.
RCMP say 24-year-old Luke Philip Johnson of Camrose has been charged with four counts of breaking and entering, assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, theft under $5,000, three counts of mischief, failing to comply with a probation order, and possession of property obtained by a crime.
