Edmonton’s Royal Alex hospital on lockdown allegedly due to suspicious death

The Royal Alexandra Hospital is under lockdown.
On Friday afternoon, the Alberta Health Services took to social media and said, “The Royal Alexandra Hospital is currently on lockdown as a precaution to ensure the safety of patients, staff & physicians. Where possible, we ask anyone seeking emergency care go to another hospital.”
At approximately 11 a.m. police responded to the report of an assault in the area of 102 Street and 110 Avenue.
When officers arrived, they located a woman with life-threatening injuries and a second woman with non-life-threatening injuries
EMS treated and transported the victim with life-threatening injuries to the hospital, where she later died.
The other victim went to the hospital independently.
Police say suspects fled the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
The AHS also said that anyone who is seeking emergency care is asked to go to another hospital, if possible.
