Police seize $750K of drugs in central Edmonton after welfare check

By News Staff

Police say a man was arrested after nearly $750,000 of drugs were seized from a central Edmonton home earlier this month.

The Edmonton Police Service says officers seized six kilograms of methamphetamine, four kilograms of soft cocaine, two kilograms of fentanyl and one kilogram of hard cocaine from a home on 120 Street and 107 Avenue on Nov. 19.

Officers also seized drug paraphernalia, roughly $7,000 in Canadian cash, a handgun with a defaced serial number and ammunition, according to EPS.

Edmonton police say officers were responding to a welfare check for a man at the home.

“Upon arrival, officers observed blood on the male’s hands. Police were invited into the apartment by the male where drugs and a firearm were observed in plain view,” police allege in a news release.

“Although our officers were expecting to respond to a check on welfare, these circumstances quickly escalated when a firearm was observed, which also led to the seizure of nearly $750,000 of illicit drugs,” said Insp. Brent Dahlseide.

Tyler Graham, 36, is facing drug and weapon-related charges, including four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
