Senior struck by vehicle in west Edmonton, thrown from wheelchair dies of injuries in hospital

Police say an 83-year-old wheelchair-bound man who was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in west Edmonton on the afternoon of Oct. 21 has died of his injuries in hospital.

The Edmonton Police Service says the man, who sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries, passed away on Monday.

The senior was heading north on 134 Street using the crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle going east on 114 Avenue and thrown from his wheelchair, according to EPS.

Police tell CityNews the driver remained at the scene of the collision.

The major collision investigation section is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has dash camera footage to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
