By News Staff

An 84-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly shooting a teenager at a rural property near St. Albert on Saturday.

Alberta RCMP say a 16-year-old, who was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries, is now in stable condition.

A second teenager, aged 15, was also on the property on Range Road 255, according to Mounties.

Investigators allege the two teens were “confronted by an individual armed with a firearm, who then shot one of the youths.”

Jim Bregin of Sturgeon County was charged with aggravated assault; using a firearm in the commission of an offence; possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose; and intentional reckless discharge of a firearm.

He’s expected to appear in court Thursday.
