Edmonton police seeking witnesses in ‘unprovoked assaults’ at Old Strathcona McDonald’s

Edmonton police say they are looking for witnesses and additional complainants following what they’re describing as “random and unprovoked” assaults in Old Strathcona last month.

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) says two men were eating at the McDonald’s on 103 Street and 80 Avenue on May 11 when they were assaulted by a man “without provocation.” The man then left on foot.

Police say the alleged assaults were reported the next day. They don’t believe the complainants and suspect knew each other.

Edmonton police are looking for 61-year-old suspect Gene Jacobs. He is wanted for assault and breaching probation. The allegations against him have not been tested in court.
