Man charged in fatal strangulation in north Edmonton

Edmonton police have charged a 31-year-old man in connection to a homicide in north Edmonton last weekend.

EPS says around 11:18 a.m. on March 17, officers responded to a report of a death at a home near 84 Street and 136 Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who was later identified as Austin Anderson, dead inside the basement of the home.

An autopsy of Anderson determined his cause of death was strangulation.

EPS has since charged 31-year-old Joshua Fairley with second-degree murder.

Police say the men knew each other prior to the incident.
