Alberta Sheriffs close alleged drug house in Wetaskiwin

Alberta Sheriffs say they have closed a property that was allegedly being used as a drug house in Wetaskiwin.

The property, which is along 51 Avenue in Wetaskiwin, was closed for 90 days as of noon on March 3, after officers obtained a court order against the property owner.

Additionally, Alberta Sheriffs say certain individuals are also being banned from attending the property for three years.

“Actions like this send a clear message to drug dealers: you are not welcome here. I want to thank the Sheriffs’ SCAN unit and the RCMP for their strong collaboration on this closure. All Albertans deserve to feel safe and secure in their homes, without the disruption and risk that illegal activity brings. I continue to encourage residents to report any suspicious activity they see in their communities,” said Mike Ellis, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services.

The property will be boarded up, all the locks will be changed, and the property will be monitored until the closure period ends on June 1.
