The family of a 30-year-old man who died of multiple gunshot wounds in the Lago Lindo neighbourhood last week is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to a suspect.
An autopsy determined Jordan Zouhri’s death Feb. 3 was a homicide.
“He died in the arms of neighbors lovingly banding together to try to save him and hearing his wife screaming how much she will love him forever,” Zouhri’s older brother Michael Zouhri wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday.
I’m heartbroken beyond repair.
“This horrible individual who committed this atrocity on my brother, needs to be identified and brought to justice.”
BACKGROUND: Suspicious death in Lago Lindo
Police responded to a report of a weapons complaint around 5:30 p.m. Officers arrived to find the victim with serious injuries. He reportedly died of his injuries on the scene.
“I’m not going to stop,” Michael wrote in the post announcing the $10,000 reward. “If you want to help or have ideas on how you can positively help, JUST DO IT. You don’t need my permission: the answer is default ‘yes, go for it.’
“Share tips/leads, share footage, share these posts, make a website, make a sign, run some online ads, ask around, contribute to the $ bounty, and whatever else you smart, creative wonderful people can think of.”
Investigators are hoping to get their hands on dash camera footage from the area.
They want to hear from anyone who was driving near Lago Lindo Crescent, or from the area of 167 Avenue between 97 Street and 82 Street, between 5:15 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. on Feb. 3.
“Even if you think your footage is not useful, trust me, it is,” Michael’s Facebook post continued. “Any footage from dashcam, security cam, doorbell cam in Lago Lindo or from 167ave (between 97st to 82st) around 5-6pm Friday Feb 3 is useful.”
Michael described his brother Jordan as a “regular guy with an oversized heart” who would go out of his way to help those close to him, and total strangers too.
“Having problems making your rent payment? No problem, here’s enough for the month. Running out of groceries? He’s got you, here’s a week’s worth. Need a lunch or gas money or help with your phone bill? Don’t say anymore, he will be there with a helping hand.
“He would walk downtown and sit with homeless people to hear their stories and give them money. He kept that secret and never took credit for any of that.”
Editor’s note: Initial information from police incorrectly indicated the victim was in his 20s.
