Teen charged in fatal collision on Calgary Trail in 2022

Edmonton police have laid charges connected to a fatal collision along Calgary Trail in April 2022.

EPS say around 6:30 p.m. on April 4, officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision along Calgary Trail near 41 Avenue SW.

It was reported a 2014 Land Rover, was travelling south when it lost control, entered the meridian and hit a culvert.

When officers and paramedics arrived, they found three people inside the Land Rover.

The driver, a 17-year-old at the time, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital by paramedics.

A 19-year-old man who was one of the passengers was airlifted to a hospital by STARS Air Ambulance, where he later died from his injuries.

The other passenger, a 16-year-old boy, was tossed from the vehicle and was declared dead at the scene.

On Thursday, officers say the driver was charged with two counts of dangerous driving.
