Woman killed after vehicle runs stop sign, collides with ETS bus: police

By News Staff

Police say a 37-year-old woman was killed after a crash involving a car and an Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) bus on Saturday evening.

Police say the collision happened around 7 p.m. in south Edmonton, at the intersection of 108A Street and Whitemud Drive.

The EPS alleges a vehicle travelling south on 108A Street did not stop at a stop sign and was struck by the ETS bus going west on Whitemud Drive.

According to police, EMS transported the 36-year-old male driver of the vehicle, the woman and a six-year-old girl to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“Sadly, the 37-year-old woman’s condition unexpectedly worsened while in hospital and she succumbed to her injuries (Sunday) evening,” police said in a release.

The bus driver was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The three passengers on the bus were not injured.

The EPS’ major collision investigations section is investigating.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the collision.
