Spruce Grove baseball team won’t play at Metro Ballpark rest of 2026

Spruce Grove’s collegiate summer baseball team won’t be playing at the Energy City Metro Ballpark for the rest of the 2026 season.

The team issuing a statement Sunday, saying the decision comes after reviewing remaining construction requirements and hearing concerns from the Western Canadian baseball league about the park’s fan occupancy and lack of operational lighting required to host potential playoff games.

Future games at the Metro Ballpark won’t be announced until the required construction, inspections, approvals and an achievable opening plan are confirmed.

Ticketholders will receive credit toward 2027 Cactus Rats games, and management says they will share details of any remaining games once they’ve been confirmed.
