With temperatures expected to warm up next week, the City of Edmonton is planning to deactivate its extreme weather response.
In a press release Friday, City officials said the measures will be lifted on Sunday, Dec. 28, 3 p.m.
The final night of operation for the expanded overnight shuttle service (north route) will be Saturday, with service beginning that evening and ending Sunday morning.
However, some winter shuttle services will remain in effect until the end of March 2026, such as the Hope Mission Shuttle’s 24/7 west route to shelters, support services and healthcare providers.
The City says facilities and libraries will also be available during regular hours for anyone needing to get out of the extreme cold.
The City had implemented extreme weather measures on Dec. 19 in response to snowstorms and a cold spell.
