According to police, lighting conditions are considered a factor in this collision; however, speed and alcohol are not.

The man was crossing 23 Avenue at the intersection, when he was struck by a 2007 Dodge Dakota travelling eastbound. A bystander attempted to provide medical aid to the pedestrian; however, EMS responded and confirmed the man succumbed to his injuries on scene.

The 48-year-old woman driver of the truck did not sustain any injuries and is cooperating with the police.

EPS Major Collision Investigations Section (MCIS) continues to investigate.
