By CityNews Staff

Edmonton police say a 27-year-old man is facing charges after allegedly stealing a car and driving dangerously over the weekend.

EPS says around 6:27 p.m. on June 1, officers received a report that a car had been stolen near 102 Avenue and 96 Street.

The report indicated that a man had jumped into the bed of a truck while it was being driven. Shortly after this, the driver exited the truck to confront the man, when he was allegedly attacked and the truck was stolen.

The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following this, as the man fled in the stolen truck, it is believed that he caused multiple collisions as he drove. Police did receive several reports and say that no other injuries occurred.

The truck was later found in a parking lot near the University of Alberta Hospital, where the driver was taken into custody, before being taken to the hospital for injuries suffered during the alleged spree.

Since, 27-year-old Dalton Moar has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, dangerous driving, failure to remain at the scene of a collision, and a breach of a release order.

Edmonton police also confirmed to CityNews that Moar had been previously charged with second degree murder.
