The City of Edmonton says homeowners will now pay $763 in municipal taxes for every $100,000 of assessed home value – an increase of $51 from last year. A property assessed at $465,500, for example, will translate to $296 per month in municipal property taxes.

Property taxes in 2025 are expected to generate more than $2.2 billion to fund 70 city services like parks, trails, roads, bridges, transit, recreation centres, attractions and social supports.

But homeowners can expect to see an increase of six per cent on their total tax bill when Alberta’s increase to education property taxes is factored in. It amounts to roughly $98 per month or 25 per cent of the total property tax bill for a typical single detached property. That money goes to fund public and separate schools in Alberta.

Property owners can expect to being receiving tax notices in the mail May 23, and taxes are due June 30.
