Edmonton police issue warning regarding release of violent offender

Edmonton police are issuing a warning to the public regarding the release of a convicted violent offender who will be living in the city.

EPS says Nooradin Farah was released from jail on Mar. 24, and is subject to a court order with conditions. However, officers have reason to believe that he may commit another violent act against someone.

Before being in jail, Farah reportedly physically assaulted or killed people. Some of his victims were strangers, while others were known to him.

“The Edmonton Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community,” said EPS in a statement.

Adding, “Members of the public are advised that the intent of this process is to enable citizens to take suitable precautionary measures. Releasing this information is not intended to encourage people to engage in any form of vigilante action which itself could constitute a criminal offence.”

Farah is a 36-year-old man, around 6 feet tall, weighing 188 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair.

The Behavioural Assessment Unit of the Edmonton Police Service will be managing conditions that Farah must adhere to.

Anyone with any information about any crimes committed by Farah is asked to contact EPS at 780-423-4567.
