Oilers fans react to rough season start

Three straight losses to start the season is a long way from the cup finals. Do Edmonton Oilers fans think the team can turn it around?

The Oilers are 0-3, while the Flames are 3-0. It’s not the start to the season Oilers fans were looking for but fans and analysts say they’re still hopeful.

“They do a lot of hard work for their game, and I think they’ll win a match,” said one Edmontonian.

Oilers fans in downtown Edmonton are staying positive ahead of game day on Tuesday. The team has dropped their first three games of the season, a far cry from a monumental Stanley Cup Final comeback just a few short months ago.

And to make matters worse, our rivals to the south have won their first three.

“It’s gonna be an up and down season, Calgary is going to have their moments, and the Oilers will too.”

While expectations for the team are high, one Edmonton sports writer following the team says, give it a little time.

“I know the fan base wants this team to come out of the gate hot, but right now this is a team that’s going to work things out,” explained Avry Lewis-McDougall, the host of Avry’s Sports Show.

And how quickly we forget, things could always be worse and then get better. Just look to last year.

“The team started at 2-9-1, it cost Jay Woodcroft his job. Kris Knoblauch comes in. Things calm down a bit. It’s been a bit of a trend these past few years for the oilers to not come out of the gate hot.”
