Mounties warn of armed robbery suspects west of Edmonton

An emergency alert has been cleared in an area west of Edmonton after one was issued Tuesday morning for two armed men.

During the morning’s alert, Mounties say the men are on foot after a robbery, while also urging people in the area of Mayerthorpe should not open their doors to strangers or pick up hitchhikers.

Around 9 a.m., RCMP responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from Edmonton, and were later able to locate initially locate the vehicle, before the driver fled from police. The vehicle was later found abandoned.

Around 2:36 p.m., Mounties say it is believed the two men were no longer in the area, which has allowed them to clear the alert for Mayerthorpe.

Despite the alert being cleared for Mayerthorpe, the two men are still on the loose and are still being sought by police.

RCMP say the suspects are dangerous and should not be approached and various members from surrounding detachments are also looking for them.

One man is described as white, about 30-years-old, five feet 11 inches tall, 205 pounds with dark hair and dark eyes, who was last seen wearing a cowboy hat and black sweater.

The other man is six feet tall, about 220 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes, wearing a black flat brim hat with red letters.
