Motorcyclist charged with dangerous driving

Edmonton police say a 23-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving.

The EPS says in July, officers began an investigation into motorcycle riders driving dangerously throughout the city.

Through the investigation, officers learned that one group of motorcyclists had been continuously driving in a dangerous manner, which also happened to be against the law, and uploading some of the instances to social media.

“Putting innocent people in harm’s way for the sake of posting social media videos is extremely reckless,” says Acting Sgt. Duane Bateman of EPS’ Major Collision Investigation Section.

On Sept. 2, EPS took 23-year-old Mhd Yasin Souidan into custody in connection to the investigation.

Souidan has since been charged with five counts of dangerous driving and was released with a condition of operating a vehicle only within the posted speed limit. In addition, his motorcycle was seized by police.

“Hopefully this will be a lesson to people who endanger our city’s streets for clicks or views online; our policing teams are working around the clock to ensure that these dangerous and criminal behaviours and activities come to a stop and that the individuals committing these offences are held accountable,” Sgt. Bateman added.
