Edmonton’s William Hawrelak Park reopened to the public on Friday.
The icon park was undergoing a major rehabilitation project, which began in 2023, improving utility, transportation, and facility infrastructure at the park.
While the park is still not fully open, visitors can access most of the park and enjoy various amenities and activities, such as walking, biking, snowshoeing, and hosting winter picnics, as well as a new playground, a new lakefront promenade, a modernized pavilion, and updated washroom facilities.

Another thing visitors can enjoy is the Tiramisu Bistro, which has been selected as the food and beverage operator for the park.
“The long-standing quality of both Tiramisu Bistro’s food and beverage offerings and industry experience aligns with the City’s desire to create inclusive, welcoming spaces bringing community together,” said Juanita Spence, Director, River Valley and Horticulture.
Seble Isaac, the owner of Tiramisu Bistro, added, “Tiramisu roughly translates to ‘lift me up,’ and that idea has always inspired what we’ve been doing at Tiramisu Bistro for the past 15 years. As the team behind Tiramisu, we’re bringing that same Lift Me Up experience to Hawrelak Park — creating a destination where Edmontonians and visitors can spend the whole day, from freshly roasted coffee and brunch to lunch, tapas, dinner, and sunset drinks by the lake.”
The City of Edmonton says festivals, events, and picnic bookings will return to the park starting June 1, 2026.
