RCMP lay charges in Westlock stabbing

RCMP in Westlock County say a 30-year-old man has been charged in connection to a serious stabbing that occurred north of Edmonton Friday afternoon.

Mounties say they were called to a home off Highway 44 near Township Road 603 around 12:45 p.m. after a stabbing had been reported.

An Alberta Emergency Alert was then issued for the area later in the evening, before being cancelled about 40 minutes later.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injures. They are expected to recover.

Police say Tanner William Nelson has been charged with attempted murder, and is expected to appear in court on Aug. 28.
