Firefighters were on the scene Friday morning after four houses suffered damage from flames in northeast Edmonton. The Edmonton Fire Rescue Services initially received reports of a structure fire Thursday.
According to officials, fire crews arrived at 7:36 p.m., at an under-construction home in the Fraser neighbourhood, south of 153 Avenue and Fraser Vista N.W. The fire quickly spread to neighbouring homes due to wind conditions, including one that was occupied.
Fire officials immediately sounded a second alarm, bringing in additional units for support, and the crews were able to bring the fire under control at 11:01 pm. This fire ultimately affected four homes; however, no injuries were reported.
Acting District Chief Carl Otto told CityNews at the scene that the “Fire started at a house that was under construction and quickly spread to the two houses beside it. Four houses were damaged, of which one was minor, one burnt to the ground, one under construction, and both beside it were significantly damaged.”
Although the blaze was declared under control at 11 p.m., Thursday, it was not considered fully extinguished as of 11:30 a.m. Friday, as fire crews remained on scene to ensure the fire was completely out.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
