Select childcare centres set to reopen next week

By

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Starting next week, select childcare centres will reopen and be available for certain core service providers to use.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney announced that centres chosen based on their proximity to health care facilities will soon be reopened.

The centres will be reopened in a phased approach under strict health guidelines.

Only 20 people, including staff, will be allowed in the building.

The centres selected will be contacted today, while all other centres remain closed.

Those in health care and municipal critical infrastructure will be the first to have the centres available for use, followed by other essential services like police and firefighters.

Parents will be notified through their employer if they qualify.

“We all need to operate within this new normal, which means using only the resources that we absolutely need,” said Kenney.
