Various parts of north Edmonton were flooded Wednesday after a major storm dropped significant rain on the city.
Yellowhead Trail in both directions was affected between 121 and 156 streets, according to the City of Edmonton.
Several underpasses on Yellowhead Trail were flooded from 97 Street to 184 Street.
On-ramps to the Yellowhead Trail were being closed Wednesday morning “to divert traffic and provide crews with room to work.” Drivers were asked to seek alternate routes.
City workers, EPCOR crews, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services and the Edmonton Police Service were working “at various locations” to accelerate reopening.
127 Street was also closed between 126 and 127 avenues due to localized flooding.

The City of Edmonton also said some intersections were experiencing traffic signal issues, leading to traffic and delays on transit.
Those intersections include: St. Albert Trail at 128 Avenue, 142 Street at 91 Avenue, and 97 Street at 124 Avenue.
“Until the areas are cleared, there will be significant traffic impacts and transit service delays at these locations. Commuters should avoid the areas if possible. Transit riders should give themselves extra time,” the city wrote.
