Family remembers Edmonton woman 20 years after homicide, still seeks justice

Twenty years after Edmonton woman Nadine Robinson, a nurse and mother, was found dead in her home, her family is honouring her memory, and still hoping for answers and justice in her death. Lauren Boothby reports.

Kevin Robinson fought back tears Wednesday as he looked at photos of the sister he still loves.

Nadine Robinson, an Edmonton mother and nurse, was found dead in her home 20 years ago. Her homicide remains unsolved.

“Just a reminder that she’s not here. Sometimes you think you’ll see her,” Kevin Robinson said.

Nadine Robinson is being remembered as a bright light – a kind and caring person who showed that through her work as a nurse for dementia patients.

“Her smile, just remembering how often we got to see it,” Kevin said. “This was not a not-normal interaction; this is what it was like every day.”

Nadine, also remembered for her quirky sense of humour, worked here at the Royal Alex and other hospitals in Edmonton

And while the public may know her as a nurse and mother in an unsolved homicide case, she meant the world to those who knew.

After 20 years, those loved ones are still hoping for answers and justice.

“Being the one who found her, I need to know about why I saw what I saw,” her brother said. “So for me, no amount of time that this person serves will bring back my sister. No amount of time they serve is going to repair the damage of what’s been done to our family.”

Edmonton police tell CityNews that Robinson’s file is still open and they are asking for tips, but not answering questions regarding updates on suspects or charges.

Kevin Robinson is asking anyone who knows anything about what happened and didn’t speak up 20 years ago to come forward and tell police, so Nadie’s aging parents can have justice while they’re still alive.

“I don’t want them to have to go with this huge hole in their heart,” he said. “They lost their first-born. It’s one thing to lose a child, and another thing to lose a child and not know why they lost a child. I hope that’s something they will resonate with.”

Her family is holding a 20th anniversary vigil in her memory Sunday at John D. Bracco School Field from 3-6 p.m. There will be a torch-lighting ceremony at 4 p.m.

They’ll be collecting donations for Edmonton’s WIN House, which supports women and children fleeing domestic violence.

Members of the community are invited to join to remember and honour Nadine Robinson.
