Edmonton police say they are looking for a suspect in an alleged attack on the driver of a delivery van downtown, as well as the witness who’s believed to have recorded the incident.
The Edmonton Police Service says it happened May 26 around 3:30 p.m. at a loading dock in the area of 102 Street and 104 Avenue.
A man allegedly reached into a parked delivery van “to steal an item while the driver was standing nearby,” EPS said in a news release.
The 46-year-old driver chased the suspect, who allegedly brandished a knife and attempted to stab the driver. The suspect is alleged to have struck the driver with his fist before fleeing.
The driver was taken to hospital by police with non-life-threatening injuries.
Edmonton police have been unable to identify and locate the suspect or a witness who may have video of the interaction.
“This individual is not believed to be involved in the offence in any way; police are hoping to identify and speak with him solely as a witness,” police specified.
