Police say a 47-year-old Edmonton school custodian has been charged with child sexual exploitation offences.
ALERT says Crispolo (Cris) Comillas was employed by Louis St. Laurent Catholic Junior/Senior High School when he was arrested at his Edmonton home on Thursday.
He is accused of accessing and possessing child sexual exploitation materials. Investigators say they are in the process of analyzing a computer and electronic devices that were seized from the accused’s home.
“While the investigation and charges are related to online offences, the nature of the Comillas’ employment at the school put him in direct contact with youth,” ALERT’s internet child exploitation (ICE) unit said in a news release.
The investigation began after ICE notified by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children concerning “an unknown Alberta user sharing child sexual exploitation materials online.”
Comillas is scheduled to appear in court July 6. The allegations against him have not been tested in court.
