2 charged, 1 wanted for alleged carjackings in December

Edmonton police say two people have been taken into custody, and a third man is wanted in connection with a series of carjackings in December.

EPS says around 8 p.m. on Dec. 15, officers responded to the area of 51 Avenue and 201 Street after receiving a report of an attempted carjacking.

Reports indicate that a 49-year-old man was in front of his residence when he was approached by two men. One of the men allegedly pulled out a gun and demanded the keys to the man’s vehicle. The 49-year-old reportedly complied, and the two men tried to flee, but shortly abandoned the car due to poor road conditions.

Around 11:30 p.m. on the same day, police responded to another attempted carjacking near 174 Street and 57 Avenue.

Reports indicate that two men were driving a vehicle and allegedly caused a minor collision with another driver. The woman who was driving the second vehicle then exited to exchange information, at which point the two men allegedly tried to steal her vehicle, but fled after a brief physical altercation.

Through an investigation, police were able to determine that both attempts were connected, which led to two arrests being made.

On Dec. 23, 18-year-old Dominic Stadsnes was taken into custody and has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and firearm-related offences.

On Dec. 29, 18-year-old Ryan Imeson was taken into custody and has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, and firearm-related offences.

Investigators do believe that a third man was involved in the carjackings, and he is wanted.
