Second man charged in fatal stabbing in north central Edmonton

Police say a second man has been charged in connection to a fatal stabbing in north central Edmonton on Sunday.

The EPS said Friday 32-year-old Byron Cardinal was charged with second-degree murder and assault with a weapon in connection to the death of Tjijandjeua Gift Tjaveondja.

This comes after the same charges were laid against a 31-year-old man Thursday.

Investigators say more people may have been involved in an altercation that took place near 118 Avenue and 101 Street, which might have resulted in Tjaveondja’s stabbing.
