16-year-old killed in collision on Yellowhead Highway west of Edmonton

Police say a 16-year-old boy from Stony Plain was killed in a highway crash west of Edmonton Saturday afternoon.

Alberta RCMP say there was a collision between a Toyota 4Runner and a Volkswagen Passat in the westbound lanes of Yellowhead Highway near Range Road 20 around 1:20 p.m.

The teenager, who was driving the Volkswagen, died of his injuries.

The driver of the 4Runner sustained minor injuries, police say.

There were no other occupants in the vehicles.

RCMP are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
