An Edmonton man decided to pursue a passion project in hopes of inspiring future generations to pursue their dreams in the world of professional wrestling.
“It’s such a beautiful sport at the end of the day,” Harlon Abbott, owner of Top Talent Wrestling
Abbott himself is a pro wrestler. Three years ago he started the first fully developed professional wrestling academy in Edmonton. The academy was created to work with athletes to give them all the tools and skills they need to succeed
Abbott says “we work with all different types of athletes from all different types of backgrounds to pretty much anybody that’s aspiring to be a professional wrestler. This is a one-stop shop for you to be able to get your foot in the door.”
Abbot says Alberta has produced some of the greatest wrestlers in the world. He wants to see that continue by providing a platform for athletes to learn the art of pro wrestling.
“One thing that I want to be able to do is being someone from Edmonton and seeing how many incredible athletes has come from Edmonton is to create a space, you know anyone who wants to become a professional wrestler is you can come to and create and own their craft.”
Abbott does have a tongue-in-cheek pro tip for professional wrestling success: Choose the right ring name.
“The Healer is my professional wrestling name and it’s a little bit of a dark persona you know the eyes of Harlon Abbot the world is pretty broken so it’s his duty and his mission to heal anyone that crosses his path.”
