Canada-wide warrants issued for Edmonton father now wanted for abduction of his 2 kids

The Edmonton father who was last seen nearly five weeks ago is now wanted Canada-wide in the abduction of his two children.

Scot MacDermid, 42, and his two children, six-year-old George and nine-year-old Lesley, were last seen in Lloydminster – about two-and-a-half hours east of Edmonton – on the evening of Aug. 28.

At the time MacDermid was spotted with a man, whom police have since identified and spoken to.

Edmonton police say they do not know where the father and his two children went after Lloydminster, but he may have been seen in Saskatchewan or Manitoba.

The Canada-wide warrants for MacDermid were issued last Wednesday. He’s wanted for two counts of abduction in contravention of a custody order.

Authorities say the criteria for an Amber Alert have not been met after investigators “assessed the available evidence.”

“An Amber Alert is one tool available to police, but it is not the investigation itself. Finding Lesley and George remains our top priority,” explained Staff Sgt. Robert Davis with the EPS child protection section. “We want the community to know that we are working to locate the children safely.”

MacDermid is described as being five-foot-five, weighing 160 lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes.
