Edmonton police are trying to identify a man who was spotted with a missing father and his children on the day they were last seen, nearly three weeks ago.
The Edmonton Police Service is looking for Scot MacDermid, 42, and his two children, six-year-old George and nine-year-old Lesley.
Police said earlier this month the trio was last seen at the Manning Town Centre in northeast Edmonton on Aug. 28.
Now authorities are saying the family was seen in Lloydminster – about two-and-a-half hours east of Edmonton – that same day around 6:30 p.m. with an unknown man.
The EPS shared a brief surveillance video of the man entering the Lloydminster BCMInns hotel, across the Saskatchewan boundary, at 7:07 p.m.
Police say they do not know where the father and his two children went after Lloydminster, but he may have been seen in Saskatchewan or Manitoba.
Edmonton police are hoping the unknown man can help with the investigation.
“Scot MacDermid has been unreachable, and he and his children have not been seen or heard from since Aug. 28. As a result, police are concerned for their welfare,” EPS wrote in a Sept. 8 news release.
