22-year-old motorcyclist dead, speed a factor in Sunday crash: Edmonton police

Edmonton police say the motorcyclist who needed to be hospitalized Sunday following a crash on Anthony Henday Drive has died of his injuries.
The Edmonton Police Service says the victim was 22 years old. Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash.
Police believe the motorcyclist was travelling west on the Anthony Henday and was trying to exit on the Calgary Trail ramp when he lost control and was thrown from his bike around 2:45 p.m.
It’s the second fatal motorcycle collision in Edmonton this year. On Aug. 19, a 21-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with an SUV in southeast Edmonton.
“It is incredibly unfortunate that the city’s first two motorcycle fatalities of 2026 have occurred just days apart,” said S/Sgt. Richard Windover with the EPS major collision investigations section.
“Our thoughts are with the families, friends and loved ones affected by these tragic losses. As summer comes to an end, we are urging all motorists to slow down.”
The police investigation is ongoing.
