One hospitalized after collision in downtown Edmonton that disrupted LRT service

An early morning collision disrupted much of Wednesday morning commute in downtown Edmonton. Darcy Ropchan has more on the damage.

LRT service between downtown Edmonton and the Muttart Conservatory was disrupted early Wednesday morning due to a collision.

Edmonton police say it happened around 5 a.m. at 100 St and 102 Ave.

Police say a white Jeep northbound on 100 Street was speeding before it struck a curb  and spun into a pole at 102 Avenue.

The driver was treated and transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the LRT that operates at this intersection was not struck and there were no other injuries.

Edmonton Transit Service in a social media post said bus contingency service between Downtown and Muttart is being arranged for commuters.

The investigation is ongoing.
