An Edmonton man accused of defrauding multiple Winnipeg seniors in a grandparent scam is facing more charges after an additional victim came forward.
The Winnipeg Police Service says a victim reported being defrauded of more than $14,000, and police believe the suspect is a 29-year-old man already in police custody.

The adult in the 80s received phone calls on Aug. 17 and 18 from someone pretending to be their grandson, police say.
“The caller indicated they were in trouble and required money for bail,” the WPS said in a news release. “The victim agreed to pay, and a man came to their residence several times and picked up money, credit cards and jewellery.”
Police believe the suspect is Daniel Warren, who was already accused of defrauding three Winnipeg seniors, all in their 80s, between Aug. 17 and 22. Authorities say a search of his vehicle on Aug. 23 “revealed evidence linked to all three victims.”
Warren was previously charged with fraud and possession of meth and fentanyl. Winnipeg police say he’s now facing additional charges of fraud and unauthorized use of credit card.
He was re-arrested Oct. 5 at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
The charges against Warren have not been tested in court.
