Youth charged with murder after man found dead in west Edmonton home

A man found dead in a west Edmonton home on Friday night was the victim of homicide, police are saying following an autopsy.

The 52-year-old man was found in a home on 82 Avenue NW and 175 Street around 9:36 p.m. He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

A male youth was arrested at the scene.

Police are now saying the man died as a result of homicide, and the suspect has been charged with second-degree murder.

Authorities say the accused knew the victim.

“Police are withholding their identities and the cause of death for investigative purposes,” EPS said in a news release Wednesday.
