Edmonton police release AI-generated image of woman found dead in garbage bin

Edmonton police have taken a more modern approach to their attempt in identifying a woman who was found dead last winter – by releasing an AI-generated image.

The Edmonton Police Service has been working to identify the woman, whose body was found in a garbage bin in central Edmonton – near Bellamy Hill Road – on Dec. 29, 2024.

Police say video footage shows the woman walking alone through an alley near 99 Avenue, between Bellamy Hill and 103 Street, before climbing into the bin. They do not suspect foul play in her death.

Authorities previously shared a traditional missing persons sketch of the woman, which yielded no answers. They are now hoping the image generated by artificial intelligence leads to her identification.

The woman is described as being between 25 and 35 years old, five-foot-eight, with shoulder-length brown and red hair, brown eyes, and a slim build. She had a flower tattoo on her right shoulder blade and was found wearing brown boots and a brown puffer jacket.
