Alberta RCMP seek public’s assistance in Saddle Lake homicide investigation

Alberta RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance as they investigate a suspicious death in the Saddle Lake area earlier this month, which has now been ruled a homicide.

On Oct. 8, St. Paul RCMP responded to a report of a body on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River and noted that the death appeared suspicious.

The victim was identified as 42-year-old Byron Crane of Frog Lake, Alta. Police say an autopsy conducted two days after he was found confirmed his death was a homicide.

Alberta RCMP are now asking for the public’s assistance in the case.

Anyone who may have information, or was in the area of the west end of Southwest Six, Saddle Lake First Nation, prior to Oct. 8, is asked to contact authorities. Those with information can contact St. Paul Mounties at 780-645-8888 or submit a tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
