Shootings in Edmonton rise from 2024

Edmonton police (EPS) recorded 10 shootings in August 2025, a slight increase from nine shootings recorded in July of this year.

In 2025, there have been 91 shootings; a 7 per cent increase from the 85 reported during the same period in 2024.

Of the 10 reported shootings in August 2025, six were believed to be targeted and four resulted in reported injuries, say EPS. There were two deaths as a result of shooting occurrences last month.

Police reported seizing 65 firearms in August 2025 and 495 in 2025 so far, as compared to 538 at this time last year.
