Edmonton police looking into suspicious playground fire

Edmonton police say they are looking into a suspicious fire that happened Saturday morning at a playground.

EPS says around 8 a.m., officers noticed smoke near 122 Avenue and 128 Street, and went to investigate the matter.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a fire at a playground next to St. Pius X Catholic Elementary School.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services was able to extinguish the fire a short time later.

At this time, the playground has been closed and police are turning to the public for assistance in their investigation, especially if anyone has any video footage of the area between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m.
