Alberta RCMP are issuing a warning to the public regarding the relocation of a convicted sex offender.
Mounties say 63-year-old Dwain Law, who has previous convictions for sexual assault, assault, arson, and property offences, recently moved to Fort Saskatchewan.
RCMP also notes that all of Law’s convictions happened in British Columbia.
Police say that he is being monitored while in the community and is subject to several conditions, including not to attend places where children are likely to congregate (schools, parks and playgrounds, swimming pools, and recreational centres) unless accompanied by an approved adult, not to be in the presence of female children under the age of 18 unless accompanied by another adult, report relationships with females, and not to consume alcohol or drugs.
Law has been described as around 180 cm or 5’11” tall, weighing around 107 kgs or 236 lbs. He is bald and has blue eyes.
RCMP has provided the public warning through careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, noting there is a risk of significant harm to the health and safety of the public.
They also note that the information provided is to serve as a warning to the public, saying that any form of vigilante action will not be tolerated.
