Autopsy determines man found dead in north central Edmonton home on fire was victim of homicide

Police say the death of a man whose body was found inside a north central Edmonton home on fire over the weekend was a homicide, following an autopsy.

The Edmonton Police Service, which initially ruled the death as suspicious, has identified the victim as 48-year-old Michael Jackman.

Authorities say they are withholding the cause of death for “investigative purposes.”

Officers were called to the home on 120 Avenue and 77 Street on Sunday around 2:47 a.m. after firefighters found the man’s body inside.

The investigation was turned over to the EPS homicide division at that point.

Anyone with information or footage in the area around 1:30-2 a.m. on Sunday is asked to call 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
