Measles exposure confirmed at Connect Care Medical Clinic in Spruce Grove

Alberta Health Services has issued a warning regarding a confirmed case of measles in Spruce Grove.

AHS said Friday that an individual had been confirmed to have measles, and confirmed that the individual attended a medical clinic on May 16.

Anyone who was at the following locations at the approximate times may have been exposed to measles.

  • May 16
    • Connect Care Medical Clinic, Spruce Grove
    • 20 Westwind Drive, #215
    • Between 8:45 a.m. and 1 p.m.

AHS says that measles is extremely contagious and spreads easily through the air.

Those who believe they may have been exposed are advised to monitor for symptoms.

Symptoms include a fever of 38.3 C or higher and cough, runny nose, and/or red eyes. Additionally, a rash will appear three to seven days after the fever begins.

If you are experiencing symptoms of measles, stay home and call Health Link at 811.

A vaccine for measles is available for free and should be received within 72 hours of exposure.
